Description
Prugnolo Rosso di Montepulciano Boscarelli, is a wine in which an attempt is made to enhance the freshness of the fruity notes with the spiciness typical of the grapes from which it is made. The result of a selection of grapes from the young vineyards that are richer in aromas and less structured, it is a pleasant wine that is never banal. The vineyards are located in Cervognano, planted on calcareous soils of alluvial origin, sandy with a good percentage of silt and clay, varying according to position.
Vinification
The grapes, harvested by hand and transported in crates, after destemming and soft crushing are fermented in steel vats filled to no more than two thirds of their capacity. Indigenous yeasts are used for fermentation, which lasts about a week at controlled temperatures of 27 to 30 degrees. Manual pumping over and punching down of the cap is carried out.
Refinement
The wine is matured for several months in vitrified cement tanks where malolactic fermentation takes place. A light filtration is carried out before bottling. Commercialisation takes place in March following the harvest.

Tasting Notes | In the glass it is a brilliant ruby red colour. On the nose, it releases aromas of violets, aromas of small dark berries, ripe red-fleshed fruit, spices and shadowy hints of undergrowth. On the palate it has a medium body, crisp and juicy fruit, delicate tannins and a lively freshness, which lends dynamism to the sip. |
