Description
Santa Pia Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Tenuta La Braccesca, originates from the vineyards located in the locality of the same name on the crags below Montepulciano. The particular soil, rich in skeleton, sandy loam, supports the desire to create an elegant yet classic expression of Sangiovese, capable of conveying the great recognisability of the historic production area. The first vintage produced of Vigneto Santa Pia was 2001.
Vinification
The Sangiovese harvest for Vigneto Santa Pia took place in the first week of October. On arrival in the winery, the grapes were destemmed and softly crushed. The must obtained was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 26-28 °C in order to preserve the typical Sangiovese aromas. Maceration lasted 20 days and was managed with gentle mechanical interventions aimed at extracting the sweeter tannins.
Refinement
After malolactic fermentation, the wine was transferred to 500-litre tonneaux for maturation in wood, which lasted approximately 12 months. The wine then rested 20 months in bottle before release.
