Boscarelli
The history of the Boscarelli winery began in 1962 with a dream of the founder Egidio Corradi: to produce a noble wine that would enhance the aromas and flavors of his homeland, with the elegance he loved. Born into an old family from Poliziana, and graduated in Economics and Commerce, Egidio spent most of his life between Genoa and Milan working as an international broker. But in 1962 the infinite passion for wine and the deep knowledge of his territory of origin led him to buy two small semi-abandoned farms in this wonderful corner of Tuscany, Cervognano di Montepulciano. Until then, the two plots had been managed in the traditional way: different annual crops and a small part planted with vineyards. The founder's vision was accepted and reinvigorated by his daughter Paola Corradi and her husband Ippolito De Ferrari, who in the 1960s became the architects of the birth of Poderi Boscarelli and their subsequent development, moved as they were by strong determination and profound dedication. Paola and Ippolito planted the first specialized vineyards with a density of 3500 vines per hectare. They also built the first cellar, renovating and re-adapting the old stables. The original spirit of the Company is today preserved by the third generation represented by Luca and Nicolò De Ferrari, sons of Paola and Ippolito. Every day Luca and Nicolò are passionately involved in the production. They reselect and replant the vineyards so that they can continue to express the scents and characteristics of the territory that feeds them, and they ensure that in every single bottle there are collected the aromas and flavors that grandfather Egidio loved and sought. The extreme attention in the cultivation practice and management of the vineyard has led, with gradual replantings begun at the end of the 80s, to a total of 22 hectares of vineyards with an average density of about 6000/7000 plants per hectare. The production per vine is about 1 kg of grapes
