Description

Tenuta Guado al Tasso's Bruciato di Antinori is produced in the small and prestigious DOC area of Bolgheri, on the coast of the Alta Maremma, about one hundred kilometres south-west of Florence. Tenuta Guado al Tasso covers an area of about 320 hectares under vine in a splendid plain surrounded by hills known as the "Bolgheri amphitheatre" for its particular conformation. Tenuta Guado al Tasso's vineyards are mainly composed of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Vermentino grapes, the latter cultivated with both white and black grapes. They enjoy a mild climate due to the nearby presence of the sea: the constant breezes mitigate the summer heat and the rigours of winter, clean the sky and keep the sunshine index high.Il Bruciato was born in 2002, during one of Tenuta Guado al Tasso's most difficult vintages, to recount and make known the unique terroir of Bolgheri in a modern style.

Vinification
The harvest began in early September with the Merlot and ended with the Cabernet Sauvignon in early October. The other varieties, part of the blend, were harvested between mid and late September. On arrival in the cellar, the selected grapes were destemmed and softly crushed. Fermentation and maceration took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for a period of approximately 10 to 15 days at a temperature of 28/30°C. Part of the Merlot and Syrah musts were kept at lower fermentation temperatures to better preserve the varietal aromas. Malolactic fermentation took place partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks.

Refinement
Following malolactic blending, the resulting blend met again in the barrique, where it rested before being released for bottling.
