Description
Achelo Tenuta La Braccesca, is produced from Syrah grapes only, which find in the clay loam soil of Cortona a perfect climate for cultivation, tending to be dry and arid. The term Achelo is inspired by the God 'Achelo', depicted in one of the most famous works of the Etruscan Academy of Cortona.
Vinification
After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the cellar for destemming-crushing, and then the must is taken to special stainless steel tanks for pre-fermentation maceration, which takes place cold to enhance the fruity notes of Syrah. Fermentation, which takes place in the same tanks, takes place at a controlled temperature of 25°C for approximately 10 days.
Refinement
Maturation is divided, 70% is transferred to second and third passage French oak barriques where malolactic fermentation also takes place, while the remainder is made in steel. Bottling takes place in the autumn of the year following the harvest.

Tasting Notes | In the glass, it is a dark, dusky red-purple colour with violet hues. On the nose emerges the black fruit texture of blackberry and currant, firmly interwoven with the characteristic spicy timbre that characterises the grape variety. In the mouth we perceive notes of liquorice and ripe dark fruit, resulting in a soft, enveloping sip. The tannin is present but well managed, integrated with the full body and crisp freshness. |
Pairing Advice | |
Pairing | A wine that certainly accompanies delicate and not very elaborate dishes. First courses with vegetable sauces or soups, second courses of grilled or barbecued meat. |
