Description

Torcolo Umbro with Chocolate Bolognami, in this variation with the addition of chocolate, it is a soft and tasty cake typical of the region. It was originally made for the Easter festivities, in the shape of a doughnut characterised by a simple yet very rustic flavour. Ideal both for breakfast and a snack, Umbrian torcolo comes in different variations, depending on the area and the traditions handed down from family to family. For example, in Perugia it is made on the occasion of San Costanzo. Every year, on the occasion of the historical re-enactment and procession for the patron saint, it is prepared and brought to the Basilica of San Costanzo together with laurel leaves. According to other legends, however, the Torcolo is associated with the symbol of the engagement ring. In fact, it is said that unmarried young women would make this cake by bringing it before the portrait of the saint to ask him to marry them.
