Description
Pian delle Vigne Rosso di Montalcino, can boast a truly noble origin. It is in fact a product that comes from the same vineyards from which Antinori produces the renowned Brunello, and therefore guarantees an excellent level of quality.
Vinification
Harvesting begins at the beginning of September, depending on the vintage and may vary by some time. The grapes are carefully destemmed and softly pressed during the harvest, then fermented in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of around 25°C, macerating for a period of about 8/10 days, followed by malolactic fermentation.
Refinement
After malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to wooden barrels, where it matures slowly for 12 months. Once ready, bottling and marketing take place.

Sommelier Suggestion | We recommend decanting half an hour in advance so that the wine can aerate to awaken all the aromas. Use a pot-bellied, fairly flat carafe that offers a large contact area between the wine and the air. Remarkable already if drunk now, but we suggest letting it rest in the cellar to reach full and harmonious maturity, with important aromatic evolutions. Ageing capacity of more than 5 years. |
Tasting Notes | In the glass it has a luminescent ruby red colour. The nose is dominated by notes of fruit, enriched by slight touches of spices. In the mouth it is medium-bodied, balanced, with a satisfying sip characterised by fine, enveloping tannins, the key to a smooth drink where nothing is out of place. |
Pairing Advice | |
Pairing | An excellent companion to accompany an entire meal. First courses with meat sauce, succulent braised or grilled red meat main courses, but also suitable to be enjoyed with very mature cheese. |
