Description
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva Boscarelli, was put back into production from the 2010 vintage after almost 20 years since its last release in 1992. The winery decided to make this pause because over the last 26 years it had been decided to progressively re-select and replant the historic vineyards, concentrating on clonal selections, and on the different expressiveness of the grape variety in relation to pedoclimatic variations and the possibility of combining the characteristics of Sangiovese with other international varieties. In 2010, on the other hand, noting the increased complexity and structure in the grapes from the first replantings of indigenous vines, it was decided to reintroduce the Riserva di Vino Nobile from indigenous grapes only, just as in the 1970s and 1980s.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and transported in crates. After destemming and soft crushing, they are fermented in oak vats filled to no more than two-thirds of their capacity. Native yeasts are used during the fermentation process, which lasts about 10 days at controlled temperatures between 28 and 30 degrees. Manual pumping over and punching down of the cap is carried out. Maceration, if appropriate, continues for a further 5 to 8 days after fermentation.
Refinement
Maturation in Slavonian or French oak barrels with a capacity ranging from 5 to 25 hl. Malolactic fermentation lends elegance and finesse to this wine. Maturation lasts between 28 and 32 months. Before marketing, the wine matures in the bottle for several months.

Tasting Notes | In the glass it is an intense and brilliant ruby red colour. The nose is broad and varied, beginning with blueberry and plum, and more spicy notes such as white pepper, cloves, tobacco, closing with balsamic and minty sensations. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, supported by persistent freshness and perfectly integrated tannins. Pleasantly persistent. |
