Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano

Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano

The emblem of the Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano is a rampant winged lion, born from the union of the rampant griffin, an ancient mythological symbol, which evokes the long history of the Municipality of Montepulciano since its Etruscan origins of the lion, expression of the Florentine Signoria, which influenced the life of the police in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries profoundly both from the political-administrative point of view and from the urban-architectural point of view. Founded in 1937 on the initiative of fourteen pioneering producers, the Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano began its production history in 1940 with the first bottling. After the difficult moments of the Second World War and the reorganization of land ownership in the 1950s, in the following two decades the Winery assumed the role of a real driving force for the entire territory. A role that, moreover, it still maintains today. La Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano is a Cooperative that today has about 400 members, they have chosen to work together with passion and respect for the territory with a common goal: to guarantee increasingly quality products at an affordable price. The vineyards extend over the territories of the Tuscan municipalities of Montepulciano, Pienza, Cetona, Torrita di Siena, Sinalunga, Foiano della Chiana, Castiglion Fiorentino, Cortona and Chiusi, as well as the Umbrian ones of Città della Pieve and Castiglion del Lago. La Vecchia Cantina di Montepulciano therefore embraces two regions and three provinces: Siena and Arezzo in Tuscany, Perugia in Umbria, putting its long experience in the sector at the service of consumers, offering new and modern processing techniques, as well as a team of agronomists and oenologists who gives support during the entire production cycle and in the enhancement of the product. The result is a wide variety of wines produced, among which the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG stands out, offered in different versions, for which we are a local and world leader in quality and quantity produced.
