Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore Antinori 2020

Guado al Tasso Bolgheri Superiore Antinori, is produced by the Tenuta Guado al Tasso which is one of the most historic estates of the Antinori family, inherited from Piero Antinori's mother in the 1930's, whose Gherardesque roots go back many centuries. In the heart of Bolgheri, the estate boasts a wine-growing area of about 320 hectares that enjoys a perfect climate thanks to its proximity to the sea, whose breezes clean the sky, allowing perfect sunshine for the plants and mitigating the summer heat.

Vinification
The harvest began in mid-September with the Merlot, later than average, continued at the end of September with the Cabernet Franc and ended in early October with the last plot of Cabernet Sauvignon. On arrival at the winery, the grapes were selected at two separate times. Before and after destemming, to ensure that only perfectly ripe grapes reached the fermentation tanks. As with every harvest, the individual vineyard plots were divided into many small plots according to the weather conditions of the year, distinguishing them by grape characteristics and vinifying them separately. Fermentation and maceration took place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for 15 to 20 days. After racking, the wine was transferred directly into barriques, where malolactic fermentation took place by the end of the year.

Refinement
After that, the best vinified plots were selected and blended. The mass was then transferred back into new French oak barrels where it remained to age until bottling in June 2021.
