Description
Summus Banfi, an intense and profound Supertuscan that excellently represents the potential of the three grape varieties that compose it, leaving the character of the Montalcino terroir very much in evidence. Produced only in the best vintages, it is one of the best examples and skills of Cantina Banfi, which succeeds in combining innovation with skilful tradition.
Vinification
After harvesting and selection of the berries, fermentation takes place in combined steel and Horizon French oak vats for 10-18 days
Refinement
Maturation lasts 18 months and takes place in 350l French oak barriques, followed by bottling and a further 6 months of ageing in the bottle.

Tasting Notes | In the glass it is an elegant deep ruby red. The nose reveals intense varietal aromas of fruit and jam such as cherry and plum flanked by more robust and roasted notes of pipe tobacco and coffee with sweet spice finishes. On the palate it is imposing but very well balanced with important but well-integrated tannins, juicy and round with a long persistence |
