Description

Gorgona Rosso Frescobaldi, is a wine that sees the light of day with the 2015 vintage. The Tuscan archipelago is an earthly paradise of which Gorgona is the wildest and most luminescent pearl of Aphrodite. Behind its apparent surliness, the inexpressible seduction of perfumes and silences, and a nature that moves by its strength. The Gorgona project was born in August 2012 thanks to the collaboration between Frescobaldi and Gorgona, the only island-prison in Europe. Here inmates spend the last period of their sentences, working in contact with nature to develop skills that facilitate their reintegration into work and social life. Around a small vineyard, in the heart of an amphitheatre overlooking the sea, the project begins, whose objective is to allow the inmates to gain concrete and active experience in the field of viticulture, with the collaboration and supervision of Frescobaldi agronomists and oenologists. The label of Gorgona Rosso is dedicated to hope and the desire for rehabilitation, with the hope that the important winemaking experience acquired by the inmates can help them write a new page upon their return to society.

Tasting Notes In the glass it is ruby red, bright and lively. The fruity note is distinctive with hints reminiscent of ripe red fruits such as strawberry tree when sweet, Mediterranean scrub such as myrtle, juniper and finally rosemary. On the palate, notes of softness and freshness emerge, never excessive but always perfectly integrated. The tannin is present but velvety.
