Description
Brunello di Montalcino Le Ragnaie, is produced from grapes cultivated according to organic methods. This Brunello is made from grapes harvested on different estates and this favours complexity of taste and balance. The estate with the largest body of vines is located at the highest point of Montalcino near the Passo del Lume Spento and some of its vineyards are even higher than 600 metres above sea level. Over the years, the winery has also acquired plots of vines on other slopes, thus succeeding in bringing the synthesis of this varied terroir to the glass.
Vinification
Harvesting is done manually, the grapes are selected on a vibrating sorting table where the best bunches are chosen, allowing only quality grapes to be vinified. The musts are fermented and macerated in cement vats where, with the help of manual pumping over, they remain from 15 to 45 days. After racking, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.
Refinement
Maturation takes place in large Slavonian oak casks for about 36 months.

Sommelier Suggestion | We recommend pouring the wine into the decanter for a few hours to allow the wine to aerate to awaken all the aromas. This wine is one of the great Italian red wines particularly suitable for ageing. Remarkable already if drunk now, but we suggest to let it rest in the cellar to reach a full and harmonious maturity, with important aromatic evolutions. Ageing capacity of over 20 years. |
Tasting Notes | In the glass it is ruby red in colour with garnet highlights. The nose has elegant nuances of red fruits, delicate aromas of nutmeg, liquorice, violets and plum jam. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, structured and gentle, with velvety tannins and beautifully balanced. |
Pairing Advice | |
Pairing | It goes splendidly with refined dishes of game or noble red meats. Able to impress in tasting with mature or blue cheeses and structured first courses. |
