Description

Bramasole Tenuta La Braccesca, comes from the sunniest vineyard, in one of the areas of Cortona most vocated to the cultivation of quality Syrah. A wine capable of evolving over time and recounting, according to a new variety, a territory with an ancient winemaking tradition. The vineyards straddle the municipalities of Montepulciano and Cortona, in the south-east of Tuscany. La Braccesca expresses the two souls of territories so close and yet so different, where the tradition of Nobile di Montepulciano meets the innovation of Syrah di Cortona. The first vintage produced of Bramasole was 2000.

Vinification
The grapes were harvested from the end of September. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were destemmed and softly crushed. The must was transferred to stainless steel tanks where alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 28 °C. Maceration lasted about 15 days, with soft mechanical interventions aimed at extracting the aromatic component and sweet, non-astringent tannins.

Refinement
The resulting wine was transferred into new and second-passage French oak barriques, where malolactic fermentation took place. The maturation period, which lasted about 18 months, ended with bottling in spring 2020.

Sommelier Suggestion Remarkable already if drunk now, but we suggest letting it rest in the cellar to reach full and harmonious maturity, with important aromatic evolutions. Ageing capacity of more than 3 years.
Tasting Notes In the glass it has an intense ruby red colour. On the nose it is elegant, notes of ripe cherry, plum and sour cherry combine with delicate spicy hints of pepper and a sweet liquorice aroma. The palate is powerful, rich and balanced, with tannins present but velvety and supported by a good freshness. The finish is long and persistent, marked by pleasant notes of vanilla and blackberries in the aftertaste.
Pairing Advice
Pairing An excellent companion throughout the meal. First courses with elaborate meat sauces, main courses of grilled or braised red meat and game. to be enjoyed with typical cured meats or mature cheese.
